Greetings, folks.
Back we are for term two, and so far it’s off to a pretty good start. I’m ACTUALLY ahead on my homework, which is quite nice, and hopefully I’ll be able to keep it this way and stay productive. So far we have done a lot of Lordship reading, some rhetoric assignments, a new concept in music (singing the minor scale, which sounds cool but is harder than it looks) and various other assignments. The week is almost over, but I still have an impromptu rhetoric speech tomorrow. Which, hopefully, will go better than my first impromptu. It could be fun though! This whole term could be. It could be!!
Tomorrow I’m going to see a debate between pastors Doug Wilson/Toby Sumpter and Jeff Durbin/Bradley Pierce. They are debating what position Christians ought to take when it comes to abortion: respectively, “smashmouth incrementalism” or complete abolition. As of right now I would lean towards the latter option, but we’ll see if I am persuaded differently.
Today’s most amusing occurrence: finding that the 16-month-old son of my landlady (and landlord…landpeople? Landcouple? Landfamily?) had climbed up onto the table in our shared den space, sat upon my roommate’s circle of 5ths homework (and drooled on it) and proceeded to bite off the erasers of all her #2 pencils. We had a hearty laugh when we discovered him there.
Fall break went quite well. Coming back felt a little bit weird, but I got back into the rhythm of things pretty quickly. Having my winter clothes is wonderful, but unfortunately I’m so warm-blooded that I still can hardly wear a jacket or leggings for fear of overheating. The benefit to that, however, is that I truly enjoy the winter whereas most of my friends abhor it and prefer summer. I also have been taking far too many pictures of autumnal foliage, but it all looks different every day, so I feel justified.
The song of the week this week is the theme from the Anne of Green Gables movies (the good ones, from Sullivan Entertainment, because I’m not a plebe who watches the new show) because I watch them every October and it’s also just fitting for autumn. https://open.spotify.com/track/7x8W9aN3usqvGYc5K2bry4
In other news, music classes are fixing me somehow, and I have suddenly found that now I can sing harmony to most songs I know.
Mr. Esmond is just making things up at this point, truly. On Monday he informed us sopranos that “Being a little off-key is like…being a little pregnant. If it’s a little, it’s a lot.” As you can imagine, this caused much confuséd laughter, especially among all the guys who asked us afterwards if we knew what that meant. (We didn’t.) First the belt of noses…then this! More wise words from Mr. Esmond, while I’m at it: “If you breathe in your sleep…you might want to consider mouth-taping.”
Well, that’s about all I can think of to relate at present. Also, in case anyone is wondering, I do in fact think like this (“at present” “quite” “rather” etc) and sld
–brief interruption as I jumped off my bed to a) try to avoid the large stinkbug that was hurtling straight towards my head and b) catch it and kill it before it could hide away again (I failed, I almost tripped on my computer cord and when I looked up the vile bug was gone).
……..and I journal that way also.
Well, as they say in the cartoon business, that’s all, folks.

No way, I know this girl from high school!!!
This is probably a silly question but do the fall leaves in Idaho look the same as they do here? I haven’t taken as many fall photos as I would have liked because there are just so many people on campus here and I feel weird going around pointing my camera at things. But I do plan to go to the university gardens and get some nice photos at some point, maybe today.
And is that a studio c reference I see? I approve.
Haha, very funny post, Tara. Glad your 2nd term has started so well!
Loved this!! You have such a good writing voice, and it is a pleasure to this author to read it and imagine the kind of books you could write. XD
Really enjoy this. Keep it up!
