Autumn in Moscow

Posted on October 31, 2025October 31, 2025 by taratarr2@gmail.com

Upon popular demand, I have deemed it high time to post pictures of the fall foliage here in Idaho. It’s quite beautiful and the 20-minute walk to school grows more enjoyable by the day as the trees glow brighter and the air bites colder. I love the colors and I love the cold (because I’m Weird And Unusual), so at this point, the daily walk to and from downtown is one of the most enjoyable parts of my day.

Unfortunately, something with having to upload these photos from my phone to this website seems to have rendered most (if not all) of them blurry. My apologies!

“The road goes ever on and on

Down from the door where it began.

Now far ahead the road has gone,

And I must follow, if I can,

Pursuing it with eager feet,

Until it joins some larger way

Where many paths and errands meet.

And whither then? I cannot say.”

-J. R. R. Tolkien

“I have been resting, just staring down at the castle. I wish I could find words–serious, beautiful words–to describe it in the afternoon sunlight; the more I strive for them, the more they utterly elude me. How can one capture the pool of light in the courtyard, the golden windows, the strange long-ago look, the look that one sees in old paintings?”

“All the while that they dwelt there the sun shone clear, save for a gentle rain that fell at times, and passed away leaving all things fresh and clean. The air was cool and soft, as if it were early spring, yet they felt about them the deep and thoughtful quiet of winter. It seemed to them that they did little but eat and drink and rest, and walk among the trees; and it was enough.”

-J. R. R. Tolkien

The leaf with frost on it looks so edible and delicious!
